Inspiration
We were actually inspired by the constraints of this hackathon to do something related to gender inequality. Tasbia plans to create a feminism club for our high school next year, so this seemed like a practical project that will hopefully be used to educate our peers soon!
What it does
After confirming that you're aware of potentially being triggered by the sensitive issues discussed on the site, you're led to the main page where you're faced with 6 buttons that will lead you to different sections on the page talking about different topics. Once you're done reading the section, you can either scroll manually to another or press the arrow in the corner to scroll back to where the buttons are.
How we built it
This was built with some inline javascript, as we had originally planned to not include a file at all but ended up needing some.
Challenges we ran into
A challenge that set us back up a bit was linking the domain to the replit project, but it ended up being a simple fix after cross checking some documentation.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of the aesthetic of our site and the formatting.
What we learned
We learned more about css and javascript after implementing the scroll features on our main page. Additionally, we strengthened our previous html and css skills, needing to look up less and less information as we kept coding.
What's next for Educate Yourselves On Feminisim
We plan to add more sections to our website, as feminism is a broad topic. After that, we may even expand into other social justice issues, such as LGBTQ rights or racism.
