Inspiration

We were inspired to make teachers' lives easier by helping them plan for retirement.

What It Does

Our web app simplifies retirement planning and budgeting for Texas teachers through our Retirement Calculator, Retirement Budgeting Tool, and AI-powered Budgeting Chatbot.

How We Built It

We built it using HTML and CSS, as well as the Kommunicate API.

Challenges We Ran Into

Due to time constraints, team members' specializations, and our small team size of two members, we decided against integrating a database and certain backend features. Another challenge was that, as non-finance majors, certain terminologies like 403(b) and TRS were foreign concepts to us. Before we could move forward, we had to conduct research on teachers' retirement.

Accomplishments We're Proud Of

We are most proud of learning new technologies, particularly API integration and machine learning. The frontend developer was especially proud of learning and integrating Figma's developer mode.

What We Learned

We gained valuable experience in API integration and machine learning using applications like Amazon Lex, BigML, and Kommunicate.

What's Next for EduBudget

We plan to integrate backend components to allow users to have personalized accounts and track and manage their retirement goals. Additionally, we aim to enhance app security by adding two-factor authentication.
