Inspiration
Many students struggle with understanding long notes, preparing for exams, and studying alone without proper guidance. We wanted to build a solution that makes learning faster, simpler, and more interactive using AI. EduBoost AI was inspired by the need to help students not just read, but truly understand and practice effectively.
What it does
EduBoost AI is an AI-powered study platform that helps students turn their study materials into powerful learning tools. Students can: Upload or paste notes and instantly get summaries Generate quizzes to test their understanding Get clear, detailed explanations of difficult topics Chat with an AI tutor for questions and step-by-step guidance Join study groups to collaborate and share knowledge The platform is designed to help students study smarter, not harder, and improve their exam performance.
How we built it
We built EduBoost AI using a modern and scalable tech stack focused on speed and usability. The frontend was developed with Next.js and TypeScript, allowing us to create a fast, structured, and responsive user interface. We used Tailwind CSS to design a clean and intuitive UI that makes navigation simple for students. For the backend, we used Firebase, including Firebase Authentication for user login and Firestore for storing user data, notes, and group interactions. Firebase Storage was used to handle file uploads such as study materials. To power the intelligent features, we integrated Google Gemini AI, which enables note summarization, quiz generation, and detailed explanations. We structured prompts carefully to ensure the AI provides clear and student-friendly responses.
Challenges we ran into
One of the main challenges was integrating multiple AI features (summarization, quiz generation, and explanations) into a single seamless experience without overwhelming the user. We also faced challenges in ensuring that AI-generated responses were accurate, simple, and useful for students at different learning levels. Another challenge was managing time effectively while building a working prototype with multiple features, especially balancing between functionality and a clean user interface.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of successfully building a working AI-powered study assistant that combines multiple learning tools into one platform. We were able to create a smooth workflow where students can upload notes and instantly interact with AI to learn better. Additionally, we delivered a clean and user-friendly interface that makes the platform easy to use, even with limited time.
What we learned
We learned how to effectively integrate AI into a real-world application and design prompts that produce meaningful and accurate results. We also learned the importance of focusing on user experience, especially when building educational tools. Finally, we improved our ability to prioritize key features and deliver a functional product under time constraints.
What's next for EduBoost AI
We plan to enhance EduBoost AI by introducing personalized learning paths based on student performance and progress. We also aim to improve AI accuracy and expand subject-specific support for better explanations. Future updates will include a mobile-friendly version, improved collaboration features, and potential integration with schools to reach more students.
