EduApp

Inspiration

The lack of education and access to education is a major crisis our world is faced with today, and people are currently trying to find solutions to this ever-present problem. This gave me the inspiration for building EduApp because making education more accessible would solve most of the problem and would greatly improve mental health as people would have higher socioeconomic statuses and thus lead more satisfactory lives.

What it does

EduApp is a user-friendly app that consists of several short, fun quizzes that provide a means of education for users. An explanation is provided after each question so users better understand why and how they got the correct answer/why their answer is wrong. There are also buttons on each page to allow for easy navigation between pages.

How we built it

I built this app using Flutter, and the language was Dart. I built the app in Visual Studio Code using a Flutter extension.

Challenges we ran into

One challenge I ran into was that I wasn't very familiar with the language I planned to use for creating my app. I tried to solve this problem by experimenting with Flutter prior to the hackathon to familiarize myself with the language. As a result, when I started my project during the hackathon, I had a better understanding of the language and this made it easier to develop my app during the hackathon.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I was able to learn a new language during the hackathon, and I created my first app. I am definitely proud of my accomplishments and extremely grateful to everyone who helped me throughout the hackathon.

What we learned

I learned how to use GitHub and Dart for Flutter applications.

What's next for EduApp

The app I have now is currently a simple prototype, but I plan to develop it further in the future. For example, I plan to add more quizzes with more questions, and I also plan to add lessons in addition to the quizzes so that the users can educate themselves on the topics covered in the quizzes.
