Inspiration
Michael Phelps, a 23-time Olympic gold medalist who was diagnosed with ADHD when he was nine years old, was my inspiration for this project. His story is inspiring, and it demonstrates the importance of recognising people for their strengths rather than their disabilities.
What it does
Edu 4 All is an educational platform aimed at providing a safe environment for children with disabilities who are still struggling in school. Our goal is to make classrooms more inclusive, even from the comfort of one's own home. We aspire to achieve simple, easy-to-navigate instruction and assist all special needs children in receiving the education they deserve. I also ensured that the website is accessible from all devices (PCs/laptops/mobile devices/tablets).
Why us?
- Free study modules.
- Free, self-paced worksheets.
- A fun game to engage our users.
- Feeling lonely? Talk to our chatbot!
An educational and inclusive website? Yes! A fun website? Yes!
How to play the game?
Use the up, down, left and right keys to move the red square. Try not to touch the obstacles to score the highest!
How we built it
The main website is coded in HTML and CSS. The chatbot and game are coded in JavaScript.
Challenges we ran into
It was quite tough for me to create the chatbot using JavaScript since I had limited knowledge about it. I also had trouble synchronising the website's components. It's not perfect, but it definitely looks great!
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Getting this whole website done by myself resulted in a few all nighters. I'm really proud of myself for coming up with an idea and developing a project that has the ability to transform people's lives.
What we learned
I learned a lot more about CSS and JavaScript and how both of them can be used together to make websites look more aesthetically pleasing.
What's next for Edu For All
For this web application, I have a lot of ideas! I intend to assemble a team of volunteers by the end of 2022 and offer free online tutoring to everyone. I also want to host this website, keep updating it, and launch it as a mobile app in the Google Play Store/App Store.
