EDITH Pro — Your Personal AI Assistant for Android

Inspiration

Inspired by the futuristic AI assistant concept from Spider-Man, EDITH Pro aims to bring a powerful, versatile AI assistant to Android devices.

We wanted to go beyond a conventional chatbot and explore how one mobile application could bring AI conversations, coding assistance, document creation, image generation, and Android-related actions into a unified experience.

Our goal is to make AI more accessible and useful in everyday life while giving users greater flexibility in how they access AI capabilities.

What it does

EDITH Pro is an Android AI assistant designed to bring multiple AI-powered capabilities together in one application.

Its core vision includes:

AI Conversations: Interact with an AI assistant to ask questions, explore ideas, and solve problems.
Cloud AI Integration: Connect to Ollama Cloud for AI-powered responses using a user-provided API key.
PDF Creation: Generate useful PDF documents from supported content.
Image Generation: Provide an interface for AI-powered image creation.
Android Assistance: Explore Android device features and actions through an assistant-oriented interface.
Dedicated Coding Assistant: Support programming questions, code generation, and development-related tasks.

EDITH Pro follows a hybrid-assistant approach, with local and cloud AI capabilities as part of its broader design.

How we built it

EDITH Pro is being developed as an Android application with a modular approach to AI functionality.

The project integrates Ollama Cloud for AI responses, with users supplying their own API credentials. This approach allows users to connect their own AI access rather than requiring the app developer to provide a shared API account.

The application is organized around distinct assistant capabilities, including conversational AI, document creation, image generation, Android-related actions, and coding assistance.

Development has been approached in phases, allowing the core foundation to be built first and additional capabilities to be developed incrementally.

Challenges we ran into

One of the main challenges was bringing multiple ambitious AI features together in a single mobile application while keeping the experience understandable and practical.

Another challenge was designing the integration around user-provided cloud AI credentials, managing the boundaries between cloud-based intelligence and local functionality, and planning Android-specific capabilities.

Working within a limited budget and development timeline also required careful prioritization of the most important features.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud to be developing EDITH Pro as more than a basic AI chat interface.

The project brings together the vision of a personal Android assistant with coding support, document generation, image-generation capabilities, and cloud AI integration.

We are also proud of approaching the project incrementally, establishing its foundation before expanding its capabilities, and exploring how several useful AI workflows could coexist in one mobile experience.

What we learned

Developing EDITH Pro has highlighted the complexity of building an AI-powered mobile assistant.

We learned the importance of modular architecture, careful integration planning, user-controlled API access, and prioritizing features that provide practical value.

We also learned that creating a useful AI product involves more than connecting a model: the surrounding interface, integrations, reliability, and overall user experience are equally important.

What's next for EDITH

Our next step is to continue developing EDITH Pro into a more complete Android assistant.

Planned improvements include expanding its AI capabilities, refining PDF and image-generation workflows, improving Android action support, strengthening the coding assistant, and developing the hybrid local-and-cloud AI experience.

We also want to improve reliability, usability, and the way users configure and manage their AI access.

Our long-term vision is to make EDITH Pro a versatile personal AI assistant that brings multiple everyday AI tasks together in one Android application.
