Inspiration
At the start of our brainstorming, we faced a tough challenge—finding the right approach to truly enhance the emergency department experience. We struggled with countless ideas, trying to balance feasibility and innovation while addressing real patient pain points. Our desire to make a meaningful impact on patients and their companions kept us pushing forward. Through extensive discussions, we carefully evaluated each idea’s practicality and uniqueness, eventually refining our concept together with collective improvements and adjustments.
What it does
ED WaitWell provides real-time updates on wait times, visit status, and next steps to improve transparency and reduce patient anxiety. It also includes interactive features to keep patients engaged and informed.
How we built it
After thorough discussions and research, we finally arrived at a solution. We used a combination of front-end and back-end technologies to integrate real-time data while ensuring privacy compliance. Our team collaborated closely to bring the concept to life, focusing on user-friendly design and robust data handling.
Challenges we ran into
Implementing our ideas introduced a host of technical challenges, from integrating real-time data to ensuring privacy compliance. Debugging became an intense learning experience as we tackled unexpected issues with APIs and data processing.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Despite the initial hurdles, we persevered and successfully created a solution that enhanced the patient experience in emergency departments. Our ability to overcome technical obstacles and deliver a working prototype is something we take pride in.
What we learned
Each obstacle pushed us to dive deeper into problem-solving, strengthening our technical skills and teamwork. We gained valuable experience in debugging, data integration, and optimizing user experience under real-world constraints.
What's next for ED WaitWell: Enhancing Patient Experience in the ED
Moving forward, we aim to refine our solution by incorporating patient feedback, optimizing performance, and exploring potential collaborations with healthcare institutions to implement our solution on a larger scale.
