Inspiration
We found that sought after a student perspective on advising and planning our major schedules, so this app allows for those connections to take place.
What it does
Students can log in through Google login as an advisor or advisee, select the subjects they want to advise/ be advised, and their availabiltity so they can schedule a meeting time.
How we built it
We used Django to implement our site and additionally included the Google login and calendar API and bootstraps for styling.
Challenges we ran into
This was our first Hackathon, and we ran into issues with integrating APIs, loading data onto the databases, and since only one of us had experience with Django, that was a learning curve too.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Again, since this is our first Hackathon, we're proud of the product we put forward, especially since Django is such a hands-on framework.
What we learned
We learned how important API integration is, and communication especially amidst errors!
What's next for Ed-Vise
We plan to fully integrate Google Calendars for scheduling, and integrate an AI API to match advisors with advisees.
