Inspiration
Hearing about sustainability in the presentation for the hack-a-thon inspired this idea of using tech to aid in the monumental amount of trash being created every day.
What it does
Provides a database of recycling centers and a search engine to help locate them.
How we built it
We built this app through Android studio and Created a database with MongoDB Atlas.
Challenges we ran into
We don't know the environment for app development, didn't know how to set up a data base and search engine, and don't know the language it is coded in.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We created a database and receive data from said database and list it on the app in response to a given location based on distance.
What we learned
Don't try to do an advanced project with something you do not know, in a language you don't know, and in a limited amount of time.
What's next for Ecycle App
We will try to learn more about android app development and perhaps finish this project in the coming year.
