Inspiration: Our inspiration were service applications like Uber, Airbnb and Doghero. These apps provide you with a closer connection with clients. And also have a system that allows two different kinds of registrations, one for the client and another for the provider of the service.
What it does: Links young local guides to travelers looking for low-cost hiking trails, providing an alternative income for local communities, by supporting the local economy.
How I built it: We built it as a mockup at the Figma platform.
Challenges I ran into: We had a limited amount of time to develop such a big and complex idea. Also, the human resources and the fact that we were producing in another language was pretty challenging.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of: Working fluidly with people we did not know before, but also being able to send the full project in time. We got to know each other a little better and the work was really enjoyable. Also, learning more about illegal wildlife trade was essential.
What I learned: Working under pressure. Exchanging experiences with colleagues from around the country that work in the area of conservation and combat against illegal wildlife trafficking.
What's next for Ecoway: Development and research, to apply it in real life. We expect to be able to implement the app successfully inside the local communities and also in the rest of the State of Ceará. Making sure that these people are having a better way of living.
