Ecoviz
Inspiration
The idea for Ecoviz was inspired by the growing need for accessible environmental data visualization. With increasing concerns about air quality and renewable energy, we wanted to create a tool that empowers communities to make informed decisions about sustainability.
What it Does
Ecoviz provides:
- Interactive 3D maps for various locations.
- Visualizations of air quality data (e.g., AQI, pollutants) using the Google Air Quality API.
- Solar energy potential and renewable energy insights using the Solar API.
- Environmental data displayed on Google 3D Maps using polygons and markers for clarity and detail.
How We Built It
Ecoviz was built with:
- Frontend: HTML, CSS3, and JavaScript for a responsive and interactive interface.
- APIs: Google Maps API, Google Air Quality API, and Solar API to fetch real-time data.
- Visualization: Polygons and markers on Google 3D Maps for intuitive data representation.
Challenges We Ran Into
- Integrating multiple Google APIs and managing their data formats.
- Ensuring accurate visualization of data with polygons and markers on 3D maps.
- Optimizing API calls to minimize latency and improve user experience.
Accomplishments That We're Proud Of
- Successfully integrating and visualizing environmental data using Google APIs.
- Creating a visually engaging and user-friendly platform for sustainability insights.
- Promoting awareness of air quality and renewable energy potential through an interactive tool.
What We Learned
- How to work with Google APIs for geospatial and environmental data.
- Techniques for visualizing data on 3D maps with polygons and markers.
- The importance of optimizing API requests for seamless data retrieval and rendering.
What's Next for Ecoviz
- Adding more environmental datasets, such as weather, biodiversity, and climate trends.
- Introducing predictive analytics for environmental forecasting.
- Developing a mobile-friendly version for broader accessibility.
- Partnering with organizations to expand the platform's reach and impact.
