Inspiration

The inspiration behind EcoMotive stems from our collective concern for the environment and a commitment to promoting sustainable transportation options. We recognized the pressing need to reduce carbon emissions and encourage the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) as a crucial step toward a greener future. This project was born out of a shared passion for eco-friendly solutions and a desire to empower EV owners to make a positive impact on the environment.

What it does

EcoMotive is a web-based dashboard that empowers EV vehicle owners by providing them with valuable insights into their environmental contributions. With this dashboard, users can monitor and visualize the amount of CO2 emissions they have saved by using an electric vehicle instead of a conventional one. This data is presented in an easy-to-understand format, making it simple for users to track their eco-friendly progress.

Additionally, EcoMotive offers a convenient booking feature that allows users to locate and reserve the nearest available EV vehicles. This functionality encourages the use of electric vehicles and helps reduce the carbon footprint of transportation even further. Users can also earn rewards based on the percentage of CO2 emissions they save, creating a positive feedback loop that motivates eco-conscious choices.

How we built it

EcoMotive was built using a combination of cutting-edge technologies. We utilized Python as the primary programming language for backend development, while MongoDB and Redis were chosen for data storage and management. The web application was designed using modern web development frameworks and libraries to ensure a seamless user experience.

Our development process involved rigorous testing and optimization to ensure the dashboard's reliability and performance. We also implemented robust security measures to protect user data and privacy.

In our project we have used Bangalore City Electric buses data scraped from the web. The user can book these buses from the app at discounted prices as an incentive for using electric vehicles

Challenges we ran into

Throughout the development of EcoMotive, we encountered several challenges that pushed us to innovate and find solutions. Some of the main challenges included:

  1. Data Integration: Integrating real-time data on CO2 emissions and the availability of EV vehicles posed technical challenges that required creative solutions.

  2. User Engagement: Designing features and rewards systems that effectively engage users and encourage them to continue using the platform was a complex task.

  3. Scalability: Ensuring that the platform could handle a growing user base and expanding data was a critical consideration.

Despite these challenges, our team's dedication and problem-solving skills allowed us to overcome them and deliver a robust and functional product.
