Inspiration
With a growing age of technology, keeping the Earth clean has been a growing struggle. It isn't just our Earth, it is our future generation's Earth as well. We wanted to make it easier to track and lower your impact easily.
What it does
Track your carbon footprint by logging your day. You can also keep up to date on news stories, as well as what the US government is doing to protect our Earth.
How we built it
We used NextJS, Firebase, and Tailwind to build EcoTrackr. We began working as soon as the opening ceremony ended and have been dedicated to finishing. In addition we used the Regulations API, a public government-run API for accessing the US's most recent laws and regulations, as well as The News API.
Challenges we ran into
We really wanted a no cost solution, for both the customer and our selves. Finding free services to boost the impact of EcoTrackr proved to be difficult.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're really proud of being able to complete the project in such a short time-frame of 36 hours and being able to add more functionalities beyond our initial tracking idea.
What we learned
We learned that the government has a lot of useful APIs and is quite open about it's data that it collects and the regulations that it passes. Hopefully in the future EcoTrackr can expand to cover Computational Toxicology.
