Inspired by the ongoing issues of climate change, our team decided to tackle the problem through a fun and innovative manner... Ecotracker!

What it does

Ecotracker is a web application that uses Google Maps to calculate the three best route between two points, and then uses fuel emissions data for a variety of car types to estimate the environmental impact of a trip.

How we built it

We built the application using HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, Django, Python, and of course the Google Maps API.

Challenges we ran into

The largest problem was calling upon the Google Maps API and manipulating the response to be displayed on the Frontend. That being said, we were able to come across this hurdle and create a fully functional environmental tracker.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are quite proud of ourselves for finishing our first hackathon project, implementing a variety of new technologies such as the Google Maps API, and learning so much in the process.

What's next for Ecotracker

The end of SigmaHacks does not mark the end for Ecotracker. We're looking to add the ability to alter your mode of transportation, while continuing to develop the UI for better experiences on mobile devices.
