Inspiration

We were inspired to create EcoTrack by the growing need for sustainable solutions in everyday office environments. Managing resources like energy, water, and paper can be challenging, but making simple, sustainable choices shouldn’t be. EcoTrack helps bridge that gap by providing actionable insights to make every workplace greener.

What It Does

EcoTrack is a resource management tool designed to make offices more eco-friendly. It allows users to track their monthly consumption of energy, water, and paper, visualize trends over time, and receive AI-powered recommendations to optimize usage—all in one easy-to-use platform.

How We Built It

Frontend: We used React and Next.js to build a responsive, dynamic interface, enhanced with Chart.js for data visualization and Framer for seamless animations.
Backend: Python powers the backend, providing data processing and handling API requests to keep everything running smoothly.

Challenges We Ran Into

One of the main challenges was connecting the frontend to the backend and ensuring data flowed smoothly for accurate tracking and real-time insights. It took some problem-solving, but we were able to create a seamless connection that delivers timely feedback.

Accomplishments That We’re Proud Of

We’re proud of creating a tool that’s easy for anyone to use and meaningful in its impact. We built a functional platform within a short time frame, complete with data visualization, AI recommendations, and a clean user experience. Seeing the pieces come together and watching the app provide helpful insights is incredibly rewarding.

What We Learned

We learned a lot about connecting the frontend to the backend in a way that maintains speed and accuracy, ensuring that data updates are both efficient and effective. Building this app helped us better understand how to make tools that are both powerful and accessible.

What's Next for EcoTrack

We see EcoTrack evolving into an even smarter platform with live data tracking, deeper analytics, and real-time recommendations. Integrating IoT sensors to automate data collection could take EcoTrack to the next level, making resource management easier, smarter, and fully hands-free.
