Inspiration

Throughout our lives, we have gone on countless airplane trips and used a lot of energy. Although many people take this for granted, we felt uncomfortable about the amount of carbon we were emitting. Because of this, we decided to create the web application, EcoTrack

What it does

EcoTrack is a web application that allows you to easily calculate your carbon emission, and with our custom made alerts system, you can view the conditions of a certain area via zip code, so that you avoid potential disasters and remind yourself to keep your emission low

How we built it

We used React.JS for our frontend with a component library called MUI. We also used Node JS for our database in a login system and we used Flask to make our custom made python API that checks for disaster alerts given a zip code.

Challenges we ran into

Connecting the custom made API to our frontend, due to proxy connection errors

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Making a website that has decent design and an API that we created

What we learned

How to build a website. We learned how to utilize a backend and actually use backends to work with our frontend.

What's next for EcoTrack

We want to connect organizations and events towards people who use our products depending on the disaster they have in their area. We also want to launch a mobile application revolving around the web application.
