About the Project: The Story Behind EcoTrack
Inspiration
Environmental problems such as air pollution, plastic waste, and the excessive use of water and electricity inspired me to create EcoTrack. Many people want to protect the environment but do not always understand how their daily habits affect it. I wanted to build a simple solution that encourages people to make more sustainable choices.
What It Does
EcoTrack is a sustainability-focused web application designed to help users understand their daily environmental impact and develop eco-friendly habits. The prototype focuses on tracking daily activities, estimating environmental impact, providing practical suggestions, and encouraging users to monitor their progress.
How I Built It
I developed the EcoTrack prototype using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to create a simple and user-friendly interface. LocalStorage is used to store relevant data locally in the browser. The goal was to make the application accessible and easy to use, especially for people who are beginning their sustainability journey.
Challenges I Faced
As a beginner developer, one of my main challenges was turning an idea into a working web application. I learned how to structure a webpage, design its interface, use JavaScript for interactivity, and organize the project files for deployment and testing.
What I Learned
Building EcoTrack helped me improve my web development skills, understand the process of developing a project from an idea, and learn the importance of designing technology around real-world problems.
What's Next
In the future, I would like to improve EcoTrack with more accurate environmental calculations, personalized recommendations, visual progress reports, and additional features that encourage sustainable behavior.
Final Thoughts
I believe a greener future begins with the choices we make today. EcoTrack represents my effort to use technology to turn small everyday actions into meaningful steps toward a more sustainable world.
