Inspiration
Climate change and environmental sustainability are among the biggest challenges facing our generation. Many people want to live more sustainably but often lack motivation, consistency, or a way to measure their impact.
We created EcoTrack to make sustainable living engaging, rewarding, and measurable. By combining habit tracking, challenges, rewards, social interaction, and environmental impact tracking, EcoTrack turns everyday eco-friendly actions into an enjoyable experience.
What it does
EcoTrack is a gamified sustainability mobile application that encourages users to build environmentally friendly habits and make a positive impact.
Key features include:
- Track daily eco-friendly habits
- Complete sustainability challenges and quests
- Earn XP and level up through achievements
- Maintain streaks and monitor progress
- Compete on global leaderboards
- Share achievements in a community feed
- Redeem rewards using earned XP
- Donate XP to environmental causes
- View personal environmental impact statistics
- Receive real-time notifications and updates
An integrated admin panel allows administrators to manage challenges, users, community content, and system-wide notifications.
How we built it
EcoTrack was built using a modern full-stack architecture:
- Flutter 3.44.1 for cross-platform mobile development

- PostgreSQL for data management
- Row Level Security (RLS) for secure user-level access control
We designed and developed:
- Authentication system
- Habit tracking engine
- Challenge management module
- XP and progression mechanics
- Community social platform
- Rewards marketplace
- Donations and impact tracking
- Notification center
- Global leaderboard system
- Administrative dashboard
Challenges we ran into
Some of the major challenges included:
- Designing a scalable database schema for multiple interconnected features
- Implementing real-time updates for community interactions and notifications
- Managing XP calculations, streak tracking, and progression systems
