Inspiration

Inspiration I’ve always been deeply concerned about the future of our planet. Watching movies like Interstellar hit me hard—it paints this haunting picture of a near future where humanity and other species are struggling to survive because of the damage we’ve done to Earth. It made me realize how urgent it is to act now, before it’s too late. But here’s the thing: as a college student, I often felt overwhelmed trying to figure out how my everyday choices—like what I buy or use—actually impact the environment. I realized there wasn’t an easy way for people like me to understand the full story behind the products we use. That’s why I want to create EcoTrack. I want to build something that could empower people to make better, more informed choices—because even small changes can add up to something big.

What it does

EcoTrack is like a personal guide to living more sustainably. It analyzes data like manufacturing processes and supply chains to give you a clear picture of a product’s ecological footprint. You can search for products, compare them, and even get recommendations for greener alternatives. Plus, it shows all of this in easy-to-understand visuals, so you don’t need to be a scientist to get it. It’s all about making sustainability simple and accessible for everyone.

How we built it

The project is currently in the ideation phase. My plan to build it is as follows: To built EcoTrack using React.js and Tailwind CSS for a clean, user-friendly interface. The backend runs on Node.js, and using Hugging Face Transformers to power the AI that analyzes environmental data. Everything is stored in PostgreSQL for scalability. One of my favorite parts is the interactive visualizations—they make complex data feel approachable and actionable.

What's next for Ecotrack

We’re just getting started! Firstly I need to find like-minded people to make a great team. Next, I'll expand the product database to include more categories and brands, enhance the AI model for more accurate predictions, and develop a mobile app for on-the-go impact tracking. I’m also building community features to let users share tips and track progress together. Finally, pilot EcoTrack with local businesses and launch a beta version to gather feedback before a full-scale release. Every step brings us closer to making sustainability simple and actionable for everyone. 🌱✨
