Inspiration
☆ Recyclable waste often ends up in landfills, not due to lack of intent, but lack of awareness, accessibility, and motivation. People don’t know where to recycle or see the impact of their actions.
EcoSwap was created to solve this by making recycling simple, trackable, and rewarding. It connects users with verified recyclers, shows real environmental impact, and motivates sustainable habits through gamification.

What it does
☆ EcoSwap helps users manage waste responsibly by guiding them on how to recycle, connecting them with nearby recyclers, and showing the real impact of their actions. Users can upload waste items, get disposal suggestions, track CO₂ savings and environmental benefits, simulate outcomes, and earn points through a gamified leaderboard making sustainability engaging and measurable.
How we built it
☆ EcoSwap was built using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with structured JSON data powering recyclers, users, and impact insights. We focused on a clean, responsive UI, smooth animations, and client side logic to handle waste suggestions, impact tracking, and gamification delivering a fast, interactive experience without a backend.
Challenges we ran into
☆ Designing a meaningful impact system that translates user actions into clear metrics like CO₂ savings was a key challenge.
We also ensured smooth performance without a backend while managing features like simulation, leaderboard, and dynamic UI. Balancing functionality with a clean, responsive user experience was crucial to keep the platform fast and engaging.
Accomplishments that we're proud of

From real time impact tracking and a gamified leaderboard to a clean, responsive UI, we successfully combined multiple features into a smooth, intuitive product all without a backend.

What's next for EcoSwap — Turning Waste Into Impact
☆ We plan to add a backend, realt ime data, and integrate with verified recyclers for live interactions.
Future updates include AI based waste recognition, location based matching, and a mobile app, along with enhanced rewards and partnerships to scale impact globally.
