Inspiration

Every day, huge amounts of food and everyday waste are thrown away simply because people don't know what to do with it.

A forgotten vegetable becomes food waste. A recyclable item ends up in a landfill. Something that could have helped another person becomes something nobody can use.

We wanted to build something that turns that cycle around.

EcoSort AI was born from a simple idea: what if technology could help us waste less, save more, and make better choices with what we already have?

Instead of treating waste as the end of something, EcoSort AI sees it as an opportunity — an opportunity to recycle, reuse, share, cook, and give things a second life.

What it does

EcoSort AI is an AI-powered platform designed to help people make smarter decisions about waste and surplus food.

Users upload a photo of a waste item, and AI identifies whether it belongs in:

• Hazardous waste

It also provides confidence scores, disposal guidance, and sustainability tips.

Users can scan and track food ingredients, monitor expiry dates, and reduce forgotten food.

🍳 Recipe Matcher

Instead of throwing away leftover ingredients, users can discover recipes based on what they already have.

📅 Meal Planner

EcoSort AI creates 3–7 day meal plans and generates grocery lists to help reduce unnecessary purchases.

🤝 Surplus Sharing

Food that someone cannot use can become an affordable opportunity for someone else through our local surplus-sharing concept.
