Inspiration
We were inspired by the idea that even small climate-positive actions should be acknowledged and celebrated. Much like social media validates moments of our lives, EcoSnap validates moments of sustainability—encouraging a habit loop of conscious behavior.
What it does
EcoSnap allows users to take a photo (“snap”) of an eco-friendly action (e.g., cycling, recycling, tree planting), categorize it, and share it. These actions are logged in a personal history, visualized on a global impact map, and rewarded with badges.
How we built it
EcoSnap is built entirely using Bolt.new: UI and logic flow designed using Bolt's drag-and-drop editor Data stored using Bolt DB Geolocation and badge logic written in Bolt JS Responsive mobile layout Deployment via Bolt’s netlify hosting
Challenges we ran into
Hitting the request limit on Bolt.new’s free plan Styling badge interactions dynamically Embedding the “Built with Bolt.new” badge when hits were maxed
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Built and deployed a fully functional mobile app in under 24 hours Created a fun and purpose-driven user experience Designed reusable logic and components Visualized environmental data on a live map
What we learned
Bolt.new is incredibly fast for mobile app prototyping Working with user-generated geodata at scale Balancing clean UX with climate storytelling
What's next for EcoSnap
Add social features (e.g., follow friends, like snaps) Gamify badges with weekly streaks Partner with local climate groups for verified campaigns Expand language support and accessibility features
