Inspiration
The inspiration for this project originated from our passion for sustainability and innovation. Not only were we motivated by the problem statement we felt connected to leveraging green technology.
What it does
Our project is a mobile and user-friendly website that enables users to interactive with data graphs and an image classifier. Small business owners can learn more about the importance of going green and the importance of biodegradable materials.
How we built it
We built EcoSnap by using Replit as our main collaborative space. We used Google Teachbale Machine for the ML model and Plotly to create interactive graphs.
Challenges we ran into
One challenge we ran into was finding dataset of images that we would use to train our ML Model! Another challenge we faced was integrating Plotly into the Replit Space, since usually, Plotly is used with Python not HTML.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of being able to fully finish our project, with a functional backend and our features such as the ML Model and Plotly graphs. We are very proud of being able to have a completely functional backend and being able to do all of this in less than 48 hours!
What we learned
Through developing EcoSnap, we learned how to create a fully functional website that is user-friendly. At first, we were not familiar with integrating python into the html file, but we were able to solve this. We also learned how to manage our time and prioritize tasks during the hackathon!
What's next for EcoSnap
Scaling on different platforms/formats (developing an app) and increasing the accuracy of our machine learning model.
