Inspiration
The fact that people buy things on the internet without giving even a thought about its environmental impact.
What it does
It shows how environment-friendly a product is, provides better alternatives, and shows the amount of carbon you have been able to off-set based on the past history of purchases.
How we built it
Using javascript, html, css, react, with some guidance from LLMs
Challenges we ran into
It was really difficult to come up with a way to calculate the eco-score, carbon footprints, sustainability score, based on product data, especially when products dont reveal their data properly
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The fact that we are the first ones to ever come up with this in an extension format, which makes more sense seeing how people mostly shop online these days on browsers. Also, our products looks very pretty.
What we learned
LIfe Lessons.
What's next for EcoShopper
Better optimized UI, carbon-offset credits, Product scores visibility before going into the product page.
