Every year Canadians spend millions on dollars on home security and throw away around 40,000 cell-phones which contributes to the global e-waste epidemic. To combat this, we came up with EcoSecure, which is a python web app that acts as your eyes and looks over your house while you're away.

What it does

EcoSecure uses a deep learning model to detect faces of all who step at your door. Using facial recognition, it identifies the person and classifies them as a known person, or unknown. If an unknown person persists to be at your door, it sends a message to the owner and allows them to take further actions.

How we built it

We built it using Flask, facial recognition, OpenCV, HTML/CSS and a whole lot of love.

Challenges we ran into

Our biggest challenge was finding out a machine learning model that would be secure enough and give accurate predictions in recognizing faces.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of all that we learned and accomplished during the making of EcoSecure.

What we learned

We learned a whole lot about machine learning and web development using flask.

What's next for EcoSecure

The potential of EcoSecure is endless. In further iterations, it can be made to utilize both the front and back cameras to provide 360 vision while recording. We
