EcoQuest

Inspiration

A variety of different ideas we just came up ourselves, for features that do really cool and great things!

What it does

One of the features was a carbon calculator in which we took a variety of different formulas to make something neat and precise. Another feature was a Compost/Recycle/Trash detector, that would use image processing ai to differentiate where to put your trash. Finally, we had this environmental data and information fun facts thing for users. This all culminates with the message board, making the app also somewhat of a social media platform.

How we built it

We stayed up nights, with the two of us splitting up work. We used dotnet maui for the frontend, while the server was a flask REST api programmed in python. There's also a variety of C# logic behind the scenes.

Challenges we ran into

Time. There wasn't nearly enough time to train a custom dataset, or do much of anythin else. A variety of different features are wonky and weird - some sort of break. I'm actually quite sad, because even though the image processing was fully programmed and done server side it was a struggle to implement it into the UI, and it didn't fully work out.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We managed to finish something and get it in somewhat on time!

What we learned

There's a lot that goes into softdev, and I think we learned the value of manpower - only having one person one certain things helped us realize what more team members would have really done for the project.
