Ecoqo - Future through Community

  1. One-liner: Direct pipeline between volunteers & organizations (charities, bigger influencers)

  2. The idea of Ecoqo is to offer a platform for people within different communities, to interact with each other while doing environmental activities, charity & volunteer work.

Use-case:

  • Your company needs some team building to strengthen company culture ? Join an event, make a social impact, and interact with other communities for a good cause.

  • You've watched that kid on TV about social awareness, and want to give it a try? Come to Ecoqoa and find an event near you!

  1. The Technology

We created a Java Server, that will handle various requests (JSON), such as functions for various systems on the app (ex. Ranking system for volunteers based on contribution).

We used Vue.JS to run the frontend of the application, for parts that have functionality. Bootstrap for the design, as well as vanilla Javascript. We created more functions for the server to handle, but unfortunately, we did not manage to get the front-end to u

** 4. What inspired us **

Once the Greta Speech hit the internet, we knew it's the tip of the iceberg. Whether that's her parents manipulating her, or some secret government attorney, one things for sure. Social Impact & Awareness is slowly climbing to the top.

Seed accelerators like Y-Combinator are seeking biotech startups, as well as social impact startups. Most companies on the HackUPC hackathon, more or less, were looking for a startup that's going to fix a big issue with today's society in general, whether that's starting from small communities, or bigger.

  1. Facing Challenges

Firstly, we struggled to find a 4th member for the team. We were looking for a backend developer, but throughout the process, we learned that it might be more beneficial to find a data scientist, so we can manipulate the data for better results and matching.
