Inspiration
Originally we wanted to go with a remote light tracker / flipper, but later pivoted to focus on weather! We were inspired by our own experiences with high costs of smart thermostats, and thought it would be fun to see how "eco-friendly" our friends and family were as well.
What it does
EcoPoint has a user authentication system, a control dashboard, and a leaderboard. There is a small piece of hardware that can take in information about the immediate surroundings' temperature and humidity. This then gets displayed in the control dashboard in an easy-to-understand timeline chart. There is also a leaderboard that tracks your overall amount of time based on your immediate temperature compared to surrounding weather (and thus, how much AC or heater you've been running)* There is also bluetooth capability within the app that allows you to connect to the device.
*These last two parts we ran out of time to fully implement.
