Inspiration

We wanted to make a project that incorporated several of this year's tracks: Sustainability and Accessibility, all while bringing public services to the public.

What it does

Our website asks users to fill in their location information on where they desire to see events at the parks near them. Based on the borough and day they select, they will receive different activities happening around them. Information on how to get there, the greenest choice of transportation, and description of the activities are all provided.

How we built it

We used several NYC specific APIs, and parsed data from government websites to provide dynamic, accurate data.

Challenges we ran into

Using APIs without a VM was challenging, as we ran across many security concerns from both the APIs and Github; it took a lot of time to resolve this but we were able to.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Utilizing as many APIs in as many creative ways as we did to make a cohesive and informative site.

What we learned

Patience is everything! Figuring out our borough sort was the most timely feature, and took us several hours to perfect. Instead of giving up we pushed through and made our system sort even better than if it was just date.
