Inspiration

The inspiration behind EcoPantry came from a shared concern about food waste and a passion for promoting sustainable living. We saw an opportunity to leverage technology to create a solution that not only addresses the challenges of food management but also fosters a sense of community and shared responsibility for our environment.

What it does

EcoPantry is an all-in-one food management app designed to minimize food waste and promote sustainable practices. It empowers users to efficiently organize their pantry, plan meals, and connect with a like-minded community. The app features daily challenges that make eco-friendly living engaging and rewarding, along with innovative tools like community food sharing, local business partnerships and a donation-rescuer system.

How we built it

We built EcoPantry using a combination of modern mobile app development technologies and framework. We focused on creating a user-friendly interface and implementing features iteratively.

During development, we faced challenges in compacting all of our goals and ideas into the design under the constraint of time.

What we learned

Throughout the development process, we learned the importance of user-centric design and the power of community engagement in driving positive behaviour. Knowing that the topic of food waste and conservation is relatable to the population, we understand that our designs must prioritize the element of accessibility in order to leave a positive experience on different users.

What's next for EcoPantry

Moving forward, EcoPantry aims to improve its user interface for easier navigation and add more practical features like better grocery suggestions. The focus will be on enhancing the existing food donation system and expanding the food item database. The app also plans to create a more active online community for users to share tips and experiences. Efforts to form partnerships with local eco-friendly businesses will be a valuable asset to EcoPantry.
