Inspiration
Current online shopping is limited to static images and videos — lacks real-world feel. Apple Vision Pro’s spatial computing enables immersive and interactive product experiences. Goal: bridge digital and physical retail for a natural, social, and engaging shopping journey.
What it does
Creates a fully immersive VR marketplace where users can browse, pick up, and inspect products in 3D. Supports gesture and gaze control for product interaction. Integrates a virtual checkout for a complete e-commerce experience. Simulates real-life retail — lighting, spatial audio, and realistic product textures.
How we built it
Designed marketplace flow and user experience with sketches & storyboards. Created 3D product and environment models in Blender (optimized for Vision Pro). Developed the app in Unity + Swift (visionOS SDK) for spatial interactions. Implemented hand tracking, gesture recognition, and gaze-based navigation.
Challenges we ran into
Limited access to Apple Vision Pro hardware for testing. Designing intuitive VR/AR user interactions without existing design patterns. Balancing high-quality visuals with frame rate performance. Preventing motion sickness via careful camera transitions.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Successfully delivered a smooth and immersive shopping experience on Vision Pro. Achieved realistic, optimized 3D environments with minimal performance lags. Designed a new VR shopping interaction model from scratch. Enabled cross-collaboration between designers and developers in short time.
What we learned
spatial computing demands rethinking app navigation from 2D to 3D space. Performance optimization of assets is essential for wearable devices. Gestural interfaces must be natural and forgiving to work seamlessly. Interdisciplinary teamwork accelerates creative problem solving.
What's next for Ecommerce-VR
Add social shopping so friends can browse together in real time. Integrate AI-powered recommendations that adapt to user behavior. Enable AR previews of items in users’ real-world space. Connect to a real payment gateway and inventory management system for live e-commerce.
