🌱 Inspiration
I wanted to create something that makes people feel good about doing good. Most eco-friendly actions go unnoticed, and I thought — what if we could reward those efforts? That’s how Ecomine was born — a platform that motivates people to take small, positive actions for the planet.
💡 What it does
Ecomine rewards users for their real-world green activities. You can upload proof of actions like planting trees, recycling, or saving energy. Once verified by the admin, you earn EcoCoins, which can be redeemed for rewards or donated to global causes.
🛠️ How we built it
I built Ecomine using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Flask (Python) for the backend, and MySQL for database management. Users and admins have separate dashboards — users upload proofs while admins verify and manage activities. The system tracks rewards, coins, and overall impact.
⚙️ Challenges we ran into
Creating a fair verification process for uploaded proofs was tricky. I also faced challenges connecting the frontend with Flask routes and managing database relationships between users, proofs, and coins efficiently.
🏆 Accomplishments that we're proud of
I’m proud of turning an idea about rewarding good deeds into a functional web platform. Seeing the flow — from uploading a proof to earning EcoCoins — actually work smoothly felt amazing. It’s also rewarding to know this idea can inspire real change.
📚 What we learned
I learned how to integrate backend verification systems, manage user authentication, and design a clean, simple UI/UX. I also learned the importance of making tech solutions emotionally engaging and easy to use.
🚀 What's next for Ecomine
Next, I plan to add AI-based proof verification, a mobile app, and global leaderboards to encourage community challenges. I also want to collaborate with eco-friendly brands to offer real-world rewards for green actions.
