Inspiration

We wanted to create something simple yet impactful for climate awareness. Everyone has plants around them, but often they go unnoticed. EcoMind AI encourages people to share, log, and appreciate the green life in their environment. Small steps lead to collective action.

What it does

EcoMind AI is a community-powered plant tracker. Users can add a plant’s name, location, notes, and an optional photo. Each entry is saved into a shared feed, building a living record of climate-friendly awareness.

How we built it

  • Frontend/Interface: Built with Gradio for a clean and easy-to-use interface.
  • Backend: Simple Python scripts to store posts and handle uploads.
  • Data storage: Posts are saved locally in a text file for demo purposes.

Challenges we ran into

  • Getting API keys and setup to work smoothly in a hackathon environment.
  • Designing a minimal yet functional app that doesn’t overwhelm users.
  • Time pressure to balance between simplicity and clarity.

Accomplishments that we’re proud of

  • A working demo that anyone can try right away.
  • Creating a project that ties technology to climate awareness.
  • Keeping the design extremely user-friendly.

What we learned

  • How to quickly prototype with Gradio.
  • The importance of keeping projects lightweight but impactful.
  • How to align coding with sustainability values.

What's next

  • Adding a real database or cloud storage for plant posts.
  • Creating user accounts and a global feed.
  • Adding AI suggestions for plant care tips.
