Inspiration

We realized that the public transit system in the Puget Sound area is vastly underused, contributing to an increase in Seattle's harmful emission production.

What it does

The app incentivizes people to use public transportation by rewarding with an online currency that can be translated into coupons able to be used at local partnered businesses with environmentally friendly policies.

How we built it

We used Figma to design the UI and Android Studio and Java to code the functionality.

Challenges we ran into

None of us knew how to use Android Studio so we needed to learn quickly in order to effectively employ its features.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We made a very good UI that enables a positive user experience that will make the public transit process more rewardable.

What we learned

We learned a lot about the basics of UI and how to make an app visually appealing and create an enjoyable user experience.

What's next for ECOMiles

The next step would be to contact local businesses, finish developing the app, and reach out to Sound Transit and Apple Maps for business partnerships to encourage sustainability in the Seattle area.
