Inspiration
Our inspiration for the project was that it seems like people are becoming less aware of climate change. This led us to look for a way to promote sustainability and educate others.
What it does
Our website provides some key facts on the decreasing health of the environment. It also lets users calculate their carbon footprint, and provides statistics on what would need to be done to offset that. Finally, we provided opportunities for users to donate to Greenpeace, an organization that aligns itself with our goals.
How we built it
We built the website using replit, and made use of html, css, and js. We used figma to design our website before starting the coding.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into challenges of coming up with ideas, since our original idea had to be scrapped, once we found out that it wouldn't work.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of persevering through redesigning our entire project, and overcoming other challenges along the way.
What we learned
We learned that when designing apps/websites in the future, we should make sure the ideas can be implemented with the resources we have before wasting time on them.
What's next for EcoMeter
We can expand the website in the future to include volunteer opportunities such as park cleanups, and to include ways for people to make their day-to-day life more carbon friendly.
