Inspiration
There are many environments that plastic pollution has infected. Local community pond and lakes are being severely affected with microplastics haring aquatic life. We want to raise awareness of this issue and show how our own communities are being polluted.
What it does
Our project raises awareness on the issue of the effects of plastic pollution in lakes, and provides potential solutions that counter them.
How we built it
We built this project centered around a website, utilizing the languages of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Challenges we ran into
The main challenge we faced throughout this project was being able to use icons via font awesome. This was due to the various versions of certain icons being inapplicable to our website. We tackled this by adding another script covering all versions in the HTML.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are very proud of being able to bring this issue to light and present it to a general audience.
What we learned
We have learned about the major effects of plastic pollution in lakes and how much they really impact such ecosystems.
What's next for EcoLakes
We want to raise awareness of similar issues and provide solutions to them in which many can take action towards. Our goal is to help reduce and eliminate the effects of plastic pollution in our local environment.
