Inspiration

Living in Morocco, I have experienced local environmental challenges firsthand. While individual sustainable habits are important, changing public behavior overnight is difficult. I realized that the primary driver of industrial pollution comes from large commercial enterprises. This inspired me to create EcoAudit AI—a solution that simplifies complex carbon accounting for organizations to drive real sustainability.

What it does

EcoAudit AI is an interactive carbon footprint audit and decarbonization simulator aligned with international GHG Protocol standards. It empowers businesses to perform instant audits across all three core scopes:

  • Scope 1: Direct emissions from company fleets and heating.
  • Scope 2: Indirect emissions from grid electricity consumption.
  • Scope 3: Value-chain emissions, such as business travel.

The application computes real-time baseline footprints, projects actionable decarbonization savings (like EV adoption and solar integration), and visualizes progress toward net-zero targets.

How I built it

Built entirely in Python, I utilized:

  • Streamlit for a responsive, interactive user interface.
  • Pandas for real-time data processing and emissions calculations.
  • EnterpriseCarbonAuditor Class: Built to encapsulate core logic, converting operational units into standardized metric tons of CO2 equivalent ($CO_2e$).

Challenges I ran into

Integrating standard emissions factors across diverse activity units while building a seamless dynamic reduction model required meticulous data structuring and testing on my own.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Successfully building an accessible end-to-end platform that bridges complex corporate accounting with strategic decision-making in a clean, intuitive interface.

What I learned

I gained deep insights into the GHG Protocol specifications and optimized real-time calculations using Python data libraries.

What's next for EcoAudit AI

I plan to integrate automated report generation (PDF export) and API connections for direct integration with enterprise ERP systems.
