Inspiration

Our inspiration for Ecoinvest stemmed from a desire to drive individuals to make informed and sustainable investment decisions. We took inspiration from services like Fidelity, which have paid employees as financial advisors, and we realized that this process can not only be automated and free, but improved to help users to make investments that will have a good impact on our environment. We recognized the growing importance of ESG factors in the financial industry and saw the opportunity to create a tool that simplifies the process of analyzing and optimizing investment portfolios based on environmental, social, and governance criteria.

What it does

Ecoinvest is a financial platform that leverages Python and various libraries, including yfinance and Dash, to provide users with insights into their investment portfolios. Users can input their financial data, and the platform generates recommendations on how to align their portfolios with ESG principles. The platform offers interactive visualizations and tools to enhance the user experience and facilitate data-driven decision-making.

How we built it

We built EcoInvest using Python as our primary programming language. The key libraries employed include yfinance for fetching financial data, Dash for creating the web-based user interface, and Plotly for interactive data visualizations. The integration of these tools allowed us to develop a robust and user-friendly platform for portfolio analysis.

Challenges we ran into

During the development process, we faced challenges related to data integration and visualization. Fetching and processing financial data using yfinance required careful consideration, and creating dynamic and responsive visualizations with Dash presented its own set of challenges.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Graph(Candlestick & Line) for stock performance
  • drag and drop feature to upload portfolios

What we learned

  • Python Libraries: yfinance, Dash, Plotly
  • Skill Development: Data Analysis, Web Development

What's next for Ecoinvest

  • we plan on transforming the UI of EcoInvest using DJango and HTML to make it clean
