Inspiration

I noticed that it is very difficult to know where to start when you are trying to become more sustainable and eco-friendly. There are EPA articles, carbon footprint calculators, forums, charities, courses, and all kinds of different advice in every corner of the internet. There is a huge plethora of information available, but it is hard to know what to search when you have no good springboard to start from.
Here is the video demo (disregard the other YouTube video, my apologies): https://watch.screencastify.com/v/35qDwzS6uoO4TkIr4Wxj

What it does

EcoInfo is a collection of environmental resources that are laid out in a simple, easy-to-follow, and digestible way. All the pages are in order so that the user can understand and have access to all kinds of different information. EcoInfo users have access to information on Green Architecture, Green Living, articles from credible sources, ideas for how to take action on the website and in their communities, groups, courses, and great environmental charities to donate to (as well as free options).

How we built it

EcoInfo was built using Velo by Wix.

Challenges we ran into

There were many challenges with figuring out how to make the layout of the site easy to understand and user-friendly. It was also challenging to find a good balance between enough content to get the user to understand the concepts and be curious to learn more without overloading on information and scaring people off.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I'm incredibly proud of all the information on the site and how the layout turned out!

What we learned

I learned a lot about the environment while making and researching this project. I also got to use Velo by Wix for the first time and had a fun time learning how to use it.

What's next for EcoInfo

I would love to be able to add more courses to EcoInfo, expand the groups, and be able to make the site more accessible by adding localization!
