Inspiration Climate change feels overwhelming, and many people don’t know how their everyday choices actually contribute to it. We wanted to make environmental impact easy to understand and actionable for anyone.

What it does EcoImpact Tracker estimates a user’s weekly carbon footprint based on simple habits like driving, food choices, electricity use, and flights. It then breaks down emissions and suggests realistic ways to reduce impact.

How we built it We built a Flask web app using Python for the backend and HTML/CSS for the frontend. The logic is split into clean modules for calculations and tips, making the project easy to understand and extend.

Challenges we ran into Coordinating GitHub workflows, setting up environments across different operating systems, and debugging module/import errors were our biggest challenges under hackathon time pressure.

Accomplishments that we're proud of We successfully built a working, user-friendly web app, collaborated as a team using GitHub, and delivered a complete project with clear purpose and real-world relevance.

What we learned We learned how to collaborate effectively with Git branches, troubleshoot environment issues, and design software that prioritizes clarity and user impact over complexity.

What's next for EcoImpact Tracker Future plans include tracking user history over time, adding visual charts, improving accuracy, supporting renewable energy inputs, and deploying the app online for public use.
