Inspiration
EcoHub was founded as a result of a growing understanding of the vital need for sustainable living in light of limited resources and environmental issues. Observing that many people struggle to adopt eco-friendly practices in their daily lives, I concluded that there was a need for accessible, engaging alternatives. This gave rise to the idea of creating a platform that not only informs users but also motivates and supports them via the use of helpful tools and community interaction. Closing this gap and making sustainability rewarding and achievable was the goal behind the creation of EcoHub.
What it does
This platform offer users a wide variety of tools to be used like carbon footprint calculator which calculates the users carbon footprint, an AI bot which will guide the users about sustainability, there are daily challenges for users that users can participate in and earn exciting prices, sustainability tips, sustainable alternatives that can be used in daily lives and workshops led by experts who will be guiding our users and educating them regarding sustainability. Our platform will be a small contribution to take our mother earth towards more greener side and make sustainable living into a reality.
How we built it
The platforms or resources while making this project were many but major were VS code Editor and Chrome browser. I have used HTML, CSS and Java Script to build this small project. I have also tried to animate the website as much as I can through Gsap which is a library of CDN.
Challenges we ran into
The challenges I faced during the development of the whole idea was animating the website through gsap which was a huge challenge to overcome because of the complexities of the Gsap library and it's code but I somehow managed to overcome it and embed the animating features on this website and make it more user interactive.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
My greatest accomplishment with EcoHub to date has been designing an interface that ensures seamless communication and is simple to use. By placing a strong emphasis on user-friendly design, I've enhanced users' engagement with sustainable living overall by making it easier for them to access and use the platform's features.
What we learned
User-centered design: The process of creating intuitive and user-friendly interfaces.
Sustainability Practices: Using technology to support decisions that are environmentally friendly.
Community Building: Methods for creating a vibrant online community.
Developing features: striking a balance between utility and usability.
Project management: Combining planning and execution to produce significant results.
GitHub Proficiency: Making effective use of GitHub for version control and collaboration.
What's next for EcoHub
After that, I want to ensure that every feature is operational and live in order to ensure that EcoHub is fully realized. This includes:
Function Implementation: Completing the development and integration of all platform functions, including the carbon footprint calculator, daily challenges, and sustainable product selections.
Better Interactivity: Enhancing the user experience by making the website's interactive elements more interesting and engaging.
EcoBot Launch: Bringing EcoBot to life by making the most of its capacity to provide customized advice and support on sustainability.
Website hosting: This is maintaining the platform's online presence to provide public access and broaden its audience.
