Inspiration

EcoGuard was inspired by the need to make homes safer and smarter using AI. Problems such as gas leaks, smoke, water leakage, electrical hazards, and unexpected entry can cause serious damage if not detected early. I wanted to explore how AI and connected devices could help detect potential dangers and respond quickly.

What it does

EcoGuard is an AI-powered smart home safety concept designed to detect potential household hazards and coordinate appropriate responses. It aims to improve home safety by identifying risks, alerting residents, and helping connected devices respond to emergencies. It also explores energy monitoring to encourage more efficient energy usage.

How we built it

I developed the project concept and explored how AI, smart sensors, connected devices, and automated responses could work together. I created a website to demonstrate the proposed workflow, including hazard detection and the responses the system could initiate. The project focuses on presenting how a connected smart home could react to potential emergencies.

Challenges we faced

One of the main challenges was designing a clear workflow that explains how hazard detection leads to an appropriate response. Another challenge was demonstrating the concept through a website while considering how real-world sensors, device integration, and notifications would work.

What we learned

This project helped me explore AI-powered automation, smart home safety, and web development. I also learned the importance of designing practical solutions to real-world problems and communicating technical ideas through an interactive demonstration.

Future plans

I plan to improve the website, refine the hazard-detection workflow, and explore integrations with real sensors, notification services, and smart home devices. My long-term goal is to develop EcoGuard into a more practical prototype that can help make homes safer and more energy-efficient
