Inspiration
I was inspired to make this app because of the pollution that harms our environment, and over 91% of trash collected is recyclable. Many of it stems from people just not knowing if their trash is recyclable enough, and this app aims to help guide people to understand that and make recycling easier.
What it does
My app is a collaborative questionnaire and location finder. The questionnaire determines where you should throw out your type of trash, while the location finder determines locations near you where you can dispose of your trash properly.
How I built it
I built the questionnaire using Code.org and I built the location finder using buildfire.js and Google's Geocoding API, connecting the two via a link in the Code.org app.
Challenges I ran into
I accidentally began using the wrong feature on buildfire.js that did not utilize the Google API at first, and then I had to go back and re-enter all information to the correct feature.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I am proud that it is an app I want to actually implement into everyday life, as we only have one Earth and we must try our best to preserve the environment, and recycling in everyday life is a big step to achieving that.
What I learned
I learned that although it took a long time and I wanted to give up in the middle, that the end goal is worth it.
What's next for EcoGO
I want to transfer it onto a platform that would be better for actually publishing EcoGO as an app.
