Inspiration

Our main inspiration for this project was the lack of motivation and engagement between communities and companies concerning the environment, mainly due to lack of awareness.

What it does

Ecofinder connects environmental organizations to local volunteers, and helps make volunteers are aware of environmental organizations and events near them.

How we built it

We used Wix's JavaScript-based API, Velo, along with Twilio.

Challenges we ran into

Coming up with one specific idea to work on was a challenge as a group. Another challenging element was getting the queried data from our events database to format properly. We also faced some problems when integrating Twillio at the back-end of Wix and integrating it with the buttons on the front-end.

We all learned a lot about Velo, JavaScript, and Twilio.

What's next for Ecofinder

Improved Twilio integration so users can be notified about all nearby events

Ability to gain points for participating in events

Ability to redeem those points for discounts or coupons at participating companies
