Inspiration

EcoEarth was inspired by a problem we noticed in our own community: many people want to help the environment, but they often do not know how. Recycling can be confusing, it is hard to understand what items belong in which bin, and many people do not realize how everyday habits impact the planet. We wanted to build something that makes sustainable choices easier and more accessible for everyone.

What it does

EcoEarth is an AI-powered environmental platform that helps users take real climate action. Users can scan items to learn if they are recyclable, calculate their carbon footprint, view their personalized EcoEarth Score, and find nearby recycling centers. It turns environmental awareness into practical action through simple and useful tools.

How we built it

We designed EcoEarth as a modern web application using React for the frontend and a scalable backend structure. We combined clean UI design with AI-powered tools, interactive dashboards, and location-based features to create one seamless user experience.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was combining multiple useful tools into one platform without making it overwhelming. We also had to focus on accuracy, privacy, and making sure the experience stayed simple, fast, and easy to use.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that EcoEarth is more than just an idea—it is a real solution that can help communities recycle smarter, reduce waste, and make better environmental choices. We are also proud of building a polished platform that feels modern, practical, and impactful.

What we learned

We learned that the best technology solves real everyday problems in a simple way. We also learned how important user experience, trust, and clear information are when building tools people rely on.

What's next for EcoEarth

Next, we want to improve the AI scanner, expand recycling center data, add personalized sustainability tracking, and continue refining the platform based on user feedback. Our long-term goal is to make EcoEarth a leading platform for everyday climate action.
