Inspiration
I had a keen interest in compartmentalizing trash and recycling since I was a kid
What it does
It collects disposal while making it friendly to cloud connectivity. It provides feedback and so no more messes without technology
How we built it
I had to look into different things such as should I just stick with NAS server, or should I incorporate microcontroller allows EcoCycle to operate as a standalone unit without requiring constant cloud connectivity? Eventually, had to deploy the api by Google Cloud
Challenges we ran into
I def chose to limit the api options. I was limit on time and stuck with roboapp api code on azure bash, When it comes to social good issues, there was some hardship/difficulty trying to come up with an issue that I could just tackle with tangible solutions instead of one solution, but a close-ended fiscal problem deeper down in the lane. I was able to implement installing packages within 3 commands, but couldn't finalize the deploying. However migrating to Replit
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Working past api deploy frustration when it came to api. Also since the two classes of microcontroller were different, there needed to be varied deployed instructions. That I had time to complete this depost, huzzah.
What we learned
I learned a plethora with waste bin sorting, my limited original impression was yard waste/bulk waste in my county. I learned that instead of testing stuff (dynamic) into my Mac terminal, I truly can utilize Google cloud and Azure, and a tiny bit of Gitlab.
What's next for Ecocycle
Mass-producing waste disposal similar to the water cycle to eliminate waste during off hours but using ecocycle's detection of complex visual features. Also creating a whole new PoE to run alongside original PoE. And lastly, Letting microcontroller be microcontroller 2.0.
