Inspiration

In this busy world where the focus is on technology and human growth, our view is that human growth is directly linked with the environment we live in. Our major aim was to come up with an idea that could bring people together to focus on environment protection and cleaning. We often hear people making excuses like "What change can one individual bring?", "Will it change if I make the change? Others are anyway polluting or damaging the environment.", etc. Well, although an every change starts with an individual, its true that Unity is strength. So we came up with an idea of bringing people together to work for the same cause. We have come up with EcoConnect, a website which brings NGOs and individuals together to work for our planet.

What it does

The website connects multiple NGOs working for the environment register with us where they can host events, post blogs, invite NGOs and individual volunteers to come together and participate in the drive. Once the NGO creates an event or posts a blog, it is recieved to our official website of EcoConnect which once approved gets posted on the website. Individuals who want to volunteer can search for NGOs, check out for events and register themselves for participating. They can also view the posted blogs and explore more in the domain.

How we built it

Firstly, we carefully planned the required components and their placements in the website. We mainly used B12 AI tool to build it. We had brainstorming sessions to understand what are the difficulties faced by the people to take the step towards a clean future. After coming up with the website plan, we planned the requirements and created the website.

Challenges we ran into

Initially, we were clear with the idea that we had to come up with something that helps the environment. We had may other plans as well to pave the path. Some are as follows:

  1. We studied the ongoing researches which help convert plastic to CO2. This CO2 could be used to grow plants artificially in space for astronauts for space exploration as well as space inhabitation (in the long run). Other facilities could be created in greenhouses to grow plants artificially in a larger amount and also put the waste on earth to use.
  2. To decrease the plastic production on earth, we can further research the dissolvable plastic which has been come up by the Japanese scientists. Larger and cheaper production of this plastic could highly reduce the plastic wastage in our precious oceans improving the ocean health.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of the ideas we came up with and also explored new tools and learnt better.

What we learnt

We learnt to come up with better ideas, gave us more insights about the concepts and researches. Being non-bio students we had a lot of fun to come up with studies and brainstorm together for our better future and cleaner environment. We also learnt to use different AI tools and give better prompts to while creating the website.

What's next for EcoConnect

We plan to continue our study on the other topics that we had focused and implement them as well in the future. We also plan to connect location API to view the NGOs in a map where the user can search for NGOs near them or in a particular city.
