Inspiration
EcoCoin was born out of the pressing need to address environmental degradation and deforestation. The project aims to raise awareness and inspire individuals to actively participate in sustainable practices, making eco-friendly actions more accessible and rewarding.
What it does
EcoCoin is a gamified platform designed to incentivize real-world environmental actions, such as planting trees. Users register, upload images of their eco-friendly activities, and earn EcoCoins through an AI-powered verification process. These EcoCoins can be redeemed for discounts and coupons from partner companies, encouraging continued engagement in sustainability.
How we built it
The platform leverages machine learning for image validation, ensuring that users’ claims about their eco-friendly actions are genuine. We utilized React.js and Node.js to create a scalable and user-friendly interface. MongoDB was employed to manage user data and eco-related information effectively.
Challenges we ran into
Throughout development, we encountered challenges such as ensuring the accuracy of our AI model for image verification, maintaining consistent user engagement, and integrating with partner organizations for EcoCoin redemptions under CSR guidelines.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We successfully created an interactive platform that not only raises awareness about sustainability but also encourages users to take meaningful actions. Our gamified approach has fostered community engagement through leaderboards and achievements.
What we learned
The project taught us the value of user feedback in refining our AI model and the importance of establishing strong partnerships to drive sustainability initiatives. Engaging users through gamification has proven effective in fostering a sense of community.
What's next for EcoCoin
Moving forward, we aim to scale the platform to reach a global audience, expand our partnerships with eco-conscious businesses, and enhance our AI capabilities for improved verification. We envision EcoCoin as a leading tool for inspiring sustainable behavior and making a lasting impact on the environment.
