Inspiration
We wanted to make a project in the direction of efforts for more ethical consumption, as well as focus on sustainability and environmental impact. Upon research, we learned there was a Chrome extension that provides info on brands's sustainability through ratings, but we found that it failed to provide information on many brands and was limited in what information it did provide.
How we built it
We used Javascript and Python for backend, HTML/CSS for frontend.
Challenges we ran into
We didn't finish the project and don't have much to show for it, but plan on working on it on our own after the Hackathon ends.
What we learned
We all enjoyed learning various bits and pieces of coding, especially things you can basically only learn just by actually doing it. For example, from doing this project, we finally understood what an API actually is, as well as how to pull from other people's branches into your own, and other little, but very useful things. We also had a lot of fun, and it was nice to code not for class and get excited about this project.
