Inspiration
Public EV charging stations have 2-hour long queues and overload the city grid, while private home chargers sit empty. EcoCharge connects them into a peer-to-peer network—functioning like an "Airbnb for EV chargers."
What It Does & Real-World Example
Imagine an EV driver traveling with only 10% battery. Public chargers are packed, so they open EcoCharge:
- Find Charger: Open the interactive map to locate an available nearby driveway charger.
- Drive & Plug In: Route directly to the owner's spot and start charging.
- Smart Payments: AI sets dynamic energy pricing while Web3 smart contracts release instant escrow payments without middleman fees.
How We Built It
- Frontend: React + Tailwind CSS (Interactive Map UI)
- Backend: Java Spring Boot (AI grid pricing & API management)
- Web3: Ethereum Testnet via Web3j/ethers.js (Decentralized auth & smart contract payments)
Challenges & Learnings
Connecting Spring Boot backends to asynchronous Web3 blockchains without UI lag, and using AI to balance smart city micro-grids.
